Harvard Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Shirley Green

Dr. Shirley Greene has served as the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs at Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education (DCE) since 2020. She began her distinguished career at Harvard University in 2005 as an Administrative Fellow at Harvard Business School, where she was one of only 13 individuals selected for a highly competitive, one-year leadership development program aimed at cultivating high-performing administrators. Dr. Greene then advanced to the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she held the role of Associate Director of Admissions and was a key member of the Admissions Committee. In this capacity, she reviewed between 1,500 and 2,000 applications each year for five graduate programs with a collective annual tuition revenue of $13.5 million.

Dr. Greene further distinguished herself during her decade-long tenure at Harvard's Division of Continuing Education, first as Assistant Dean of Students and then as Associate Dean of Students. In her current position as Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Greene works closely with DCE leadership on strategic planning for the Office of Student Affairs, playing a central role in shaping the division’s direction and priorities.

Dr. Greene holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Spelman College in Atlanta. She earned her Master of Business Administration in finance and marketing from Clark Atlanta University and went on to achieve a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Michigan.
